Won't hesitate to STALL Parliament again, warns BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said it won't hesitate to stall Parliament's forthcoming winter session it if it helps fill the government's coffers and fight corruption.

BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy claimed that two years ago, by stalling the winter session of Parliament over the 2G spectrum scam issue, there had been a net benefit of Rs 2 lakh crore to the country.

"If by obstructing Parliament, resources of the exchequer are filled, the BJP will not hesitate," he told reporters, adding that the party cannot remain silent to the "monumental corruption" witnessed during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.
 
Rudy termed the reshuffle of Union Council of Ministers as an "exercise in vain" and said the Manmohan Singh government, from which the Trinamool Congress has pulled out, "should have sought a fresh mandate before going into this exercise (reshuffle)".

"After the TMC's withdrawal, the government lost its credibility. BJP feels this (reshuffle) is an exercise in vain," Rudy said.

The prime minister also came under a sharp attack from the BJP leader, who said Dr Singh was known as an economist and for his honesty but during the UPA's second stint that has "changed".

Rudy also conceded that "nowhere in the world do we have a prime minister who is so qualified".
 
"But after promising a growth rate of 9.2 per cent, it is hovering around 5.2 per cent", he added.  Rudy said some international rating agencies had projected a low growth rate, "with inward flow of investments coming to a dismal level but this does not seem to bother the UPA".

"The government says it is committed to ushering in reforms but they are silent when we say its policies are crushing the common man. In the name of reforms, they have rationed cooking gas cylinders to six a year. By taking such a step, Congress has legitimised black marketing of cooking gas in this country," he alleged.
 
Rudy termed the clean chit given to Robert Vadra by the Haryana government in land deals as a "sham being perpetrated by the state government".

"We demand an inquiry into all the land deals of Vadra in Haryana and Rajasthan," Rudy said, alleging that the chief ministers of the two states only wanted to save their chairs.

Without naming former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh, he also took a dig at Congress for fighting the forthcoming assembly polls under a "tainted" leader.
