Karnataka will have to wait till August 3, 11 am, to know who their next chief minister is. Bharatiya Janata Party observer, Dharmender Pradhan, said in Bengaluru that the new chief minister of Karnataka will be elected on August 3 at 11 am.

Pradhan, however, refused to comment on who the leader would be. He said that the process was on and everyone will have to wait till August 3.

BJP leaders from New Delhi met with outgoing chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in a meeting that lasted for nearly four hours. Yeddyurappa, after resigning, had publicly pushed for his candidate Sadananda Gowda for the CM's post, while the BJP high command pitched the name of Rural Development and Panchayath Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar.

However, sources indicate that there is no clear decision as yet and the party leaders are returning to Delhi to consult with senior party leaders before making any announcement. The legislature party meeting will also be held on August 3.
