Who is secular in NDA, Lalu asks Nitish

Last updated on: June 19, 2012 20:20 IST
Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday to explain who is secular in the National Democratic Alliance. Lalu's comment came following Kumar's statement that the NDA should declare its prime ministerial candidate in advance and that the candidate should be a secular.

"Nitish Kumar should explain to the people who are secular in NDA," Lalu said.

Lalu added that Nitish should also explain to people what he thinks
about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party as far as secular politics is concerned.

Lalu told newspersons in Patna that after enjoying power for years with the BJP, Nitish Kumar has suddenly realised that only a secular leader should be projected as the prime ministerial candidate.

Lalu described Nitish's latest remarks as nothing but a political drama to project himself as a real secular leader of the NDA for the PM's post.
