What ceasefire? Pakistan fires on forward Indian posts again

October 31, 2013 13:38 IST

Pakistani troops fired on forward Indian posts along the Line of Control in Jammu district overnight, drawing retaliation from Indian forces.

The Pakistani Army fired on several posts in Jourian forward belt in Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district, a defence spokesman said on Thursday.

Indian troops retaliated with equal calibre weapons, the spokesman said, adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.

The cross border firing, which started at 7.45 pm on Wednesday, ended around 2.30 am on Thursday.

There have been nearly 150 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir this year, the highest in the past eight years.
