We have not asked for PM's resignation yet: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up to launch a fresh attack on the ruling United Progressive Alliance at a major news conference on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal defended Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the 2G row, saying irrespective of what the concerned minister says, the PM is not liable for his actions. The Congress Core Committee is scheduled to discuss the spectrum row later in the evening.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani held discussions with Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

Javadekar denied media reports which had claimed that the BJP had asked for the resignation of the PM. "Not yet," he told rediff.com when queried about the issue.

When contacted, former prime minister Deve Gowda refused to comment on the matter. "It is not proper for me to talk about the PM," he said.

"Why is the government not agreeing to a JPC probe if they have nothing to hide? The fact that the government is running away from the probe proves that they are guilty," said Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, a close aide of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
