Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday alleged that the Left Front had not done any development work or set up any industry in West Bengal in its 34 year-rule.

"So many people from West Bengal are working in different industries in Gujarat. They have come to Gujarat because there are no jobs for them in West Bengal as there is no industry," Modi said addressing a meeting in support of BJP candidate for Madarihut assembly constituency Manoj Tikka at Birpara in Jalpaiguri district.

The north Bengal districts of Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling have so many tea gardens. But the Left Front government has failed to set up any industry in the area, the senior BJP leader said.

Modi alleged that the condition of workers in the tea gardens in north Bengal is very bad, claiming that they don't get any government facilities like free healthcare, free education, ration through public distribution system and other facilities.

Many villages in West Bengal don't have electricity or metalled roads unlike most of the villages in Gujarat, the Gujarat chief minister claimed.

Modi said if elected, the BJP government would work for the people of the state and bring about a change.
