Central Mumbai on Friday witnessed traffic snarls due to security measures in view of the public meeting of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, a rally by Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar besides President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to the city.

Sonia is scheduled to address Congress workers at Dadar's Shivaji Park on Saturday afternoon while the NCP rally is underway at Shanmukhananda Hall in Matunga area.

As hordes of Congress workers were proceeding towards Shivaji Park, traffic on all roads leading there, came to a standstill during the morning rush hours.

The commuters in Bandra-Kurla area too faced hardships as some of the roads were closed to allow President Kalam's cavalcade to proceed towards Bandra-Kurla Complex, the business district in western Mumbai.

The President, whose arrival was delayed due to fog at Delhi airport by two hours, will attend a summit of IIT alumni at BKC.
