The 20-year-old Gurmehar Kaur could not have imagined in her wildest dreams that her Facebook post protesting the violence unleashed in Delhi’s Ramjas College by the ABVP will evoke such sharp reactions from a wide array of personalities – ranging from a member of Parliament who compared her to Dawood Ibrahim, a Union minister who said her mind was polluted by leftists, an ex-cricketer who trolled her to a Bollywood actor who joined in the fray with seeming glee.

Not to mention getting rape threats online.

Yes, it was a most unlikely spectacle, one that forced the martyr’s daughter to declare that she was withdrawing herself from the protests.
