In what is being seen as a security breach of Congress member Rahul Gandhi , the Faizabad police late on Thursday evening detected weapons on the person of two guests staying in the same hotel as Rahul.

Both men, belonging to Ghaziabad, were arrested and were being questioned until late night.

According to Faizabad district magistrate Amod Kumar, "Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested persons, P L Jatav and R S Jatav, are activists of the Bahuijan Samaj Party and have been camping at Faizabad's Krishna Palace Hotel since April 27
in connection with the BSP poll campaign."

He said, "Even though both weapons -- a revolver and a pistol -- carried by the two were licenced, they were arrested for violation of prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code which prohibits carrying of any firearms in a public place."

Prima facie, Kumar does not see any possibility of there being part of a larger design or conspiracy. "But we cannot take any chances and now law will take its own course against them", he added.
