Twenty-two ministers were sworn-in by President Pranab Mukherjee, his first swearing-in since becoming President, on Sunday morning. Seven were sworn in as Cabinet ministers, two as ministers of state with independent charge, and 13 as ministers of state.
The Cabinet ministers
Rahman Khan from Karnataka, took oath in English, in the name of Allah. He has been made minister for minority affairs.
Dinsha Patel from Gujarat, took oath in Hindi, in the name of Ishwar, as has been given the mines ministry.
Ajay Maken from Delhi, the new minister for housing and urban poverty alleviation, took oath in English, in the name of God.
MM Pallam Raju from Andhra Pradesh, took oath in English in the name of God. He has been made minister for human resources development.
Ashwani Kumar from Punjab, the new minister for law and justice, took oath in English, in the name of God.
Harish Rawat from Uttarakhand took oath in Hindi in Ishwar's name. He will be the water resources minister.
Chandresh Kumari Katoch from Himachal Pradesh, the new culture minister, took oath in English, in the name of God.
Of these, five -- Dinsha Patel, Pallam Raju, Harish Rawat, Ajay Maken and Ashwani Kumar -- have been promoted from ministers of state to Cabinet rank.
Of the existing ministers, Verappa Moily has been moved from power corporate affairs to petroleum and natural gas;
S Jaipal Reddy has been moved from petroleum and natural gas to science and technology and earth sciences;
Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath has been given additional charge of parliamentary affairs;
Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi has been divested of science and technology and earth sciences, and micro, small and medium enterprises ministries;
Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal has been divested of human resource development portfolio;
Road Transport and Highways Minister CP Joshi has been divested of railway portfolio;
Kumari Selja has been moved from urban and poverty alleviation and culture ministries to social justice and empowerment;
Pawan Kumar Bansal has been moved from parliamentary affairs and water resources to railways;
Salman Khurshid has been moved from law and justice, minority affairs to external affairs;
Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has been divested of drinking water and sanitation portfolio;
MoS with independent chargeManish Tiwari from Punjab, took oath in English, in the name of God. He will be the new information and broadcasting minister.
Dr K Chiranjeevi from Andhra Pradesh, took oath in English, in the name of God. He has been given tourism ministry.
Apart from these two inductees, Jyotiraditya Scindia has been made MoS (ind) for power. He was formerly MoS for commerce and industry;
Sachin Pilot, formerly MoS in communications and information technology ministry, has been made MoS (ind) for corporate affairs;
KH Muniappa, formerly MoS in railway ministry, has been made MoD (ind) for micro, small and medium enterprises;
Bharatsinh Madhansinh Solanki, MoS in railway ministry, has been made MoS (ind) in drinking water and sanitation;
Jitendra Singh, MoS for home, has been made MoS (ind) for youth affairs and sports, along with defence.
Ministers of state
Dr Shashi Tharoor from Kerala, took oath in English in the name of God. He has been given HRD ministry.
Kodikunnil Suresh from Kerala, who took oath in English in the name of God, has been given labour and employment ministry.
Tariq Anwar from Bihar, first minister not to swear on Allah, Ishwar or God. He took oath in Hindi and is the only non-Congress minister sworn in on Sunday. He has been given agriculture and food processing industries, and report to his party president Sharad Pawar who holds the Cabinet rank.
Potla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy from Andhra, took oath in English, in the name of God. He has been given railways.
Ranee Narah from Assam, took oath in English in the name of God. She has been given tribal affairs.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from West Bengal, took oath in English in the name of God. He has been given railways too.
Abu Nasem Khan Chowdhury, from West Bengal, took oath in English, in the name of God. He has been given health and family welfare.
Sarvey Satyanarayana from Andhra, took oath in English in the name of God. He has been given road transport and highways.
Ninong Ering from Arunachal Pradesh has been given minority affairs, and took oath in Hindi in Ishwar's name.
Deepa Dasmunshi from West Bengal, took oath in Hindi, in Ishwar's name. She has been given urban development ministry.
Porika Balram Naik from Andhra, who has been given social justice and empowerment, took oath in Hindi and in Ishwar's name.
Dr Kruparani Killi from Andhra took oath in English in God's name, and has been given communications and information technology.
Lal Chanda Kataria from Rajasthan took oath in Hindi and in Ishwar's name, and has been given defence.
Apart from them, the portfolios of some MoSes have been changed.
MoS for External Affairs E Ahamed, has been divested of HRD ministry;
D Purandeshwari has been shifted from HRD to commerce and industry;
Jitin Prasada has been shifted from road transport and highways to HRD;
S Jagathrakshakan has been shifted from I&B to new and renewable energy;
RPN Singh has been shifted from petroleum and natural gas, and corporate affairs to home;
KV Venugopal has been shifted from power to civil aviation;
And finally, MoS for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla has been given additional charge of planning portfolio.
