UP was alerted of terrorist attack: Jaiswal

November 25, 2007 15:26 IST

Uttar Pradesh was alerted about the possibility of terrorist attacksĀ in public places, Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal said on Sunday.

Maintaining that Central intelligence agencies have been regularly giving information about terrorist activities, Jaiswal told PTI in Kanpur that the UP administration was alerted that terrorists may strike at a public place in the state.

UP Chief Minister Mayawati had attributed the serial blasts in the civil courts in Faizabad, Lucknow and Varanasi to the "failure" on the part of Central intelligence agencies.

Three simultaneous blasts had rocked the court premises in the three cities on Friday killing 14 people, some of them lawyers, and injuring over 60.
