Former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler, who quit the Manmohan Singh ministry following his indictment by the Nanavati commission, on Friday ruled out his resignation from the Lok Sabha.

Tytler, who arrived from New Delhi to attend a private function in Chennai, told reporters at the airport that there was no need for 'resigning from the Lok Sabha.'

Tytler said he was elected to the Lok Sabha by Sikh brethren and there was no question of him resigning from the lower house.

Denying that he was 'compelled' to resign from the ministry, Tytler said he did it on moral grounds. "It is not right to continue in the ministry, when you face an inquiry."

Stating that he wanted a speedy inquiry into the charges against him, he said the truth should come out. He said he would continue to serve the people of the country.
