"Two CRPF personnel were martyred in the militant attack," he said.

“A search operation has been launched to nab those involved in the attack. Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot,” public relations officer of the CRPF Ashish Kumar told Rediff.com.

The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Omkar Singh and Constable Tilak Raj, he added.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the militants, the officer said, adding, further details of the incident are awaited.

Monday’s attack came two days after 14 civilians were injured in a powerful hand grenade blast in south Kashmir Shopian town. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
