Two Communist Party of India-Marxist activists were shot dead by the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura in two separate incidents in Tripura West district, the police said on Thursday.

Armed NLFT insurgents dragged out Mangalchand Jharra from his house before shooting him dead on Wednesday at Radhanagara village, the sources said,

Earlier on Monday night, the NLFT killed another CPI-M activist Rabicharan Debbarma at Kakraicherra village. The militants chopped the victim before shooting him dead.

The CPI-M, major partner of the ruling Left Front in the state, has condemned the killings and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

The CPI-M alleged that 30 party activists were killed by the NLFT and its fringe group Borok National Council of Tripura after election to the state assembly was announced in January.
