TC, Maoists responsible for Lalgarh killings, says Bose

January 08, 2011 02:27 IST

Left Front chairman Biman Bose held both Maoists and Trinamool Congress responsible for the firing incident at Lalgarh which has claimed six lives.

"We strongly condemn the despicable activity by the Maoists and the Trinamool Congress and ask the people of the area to raise their voice in protest. We also ask the administration to take strong steps," the CPI-M state committee secretary said in a statement in Kolkata.

"At the same time we ask the people to ignore provocations

and maintain peace and order," he said. Bose alleged that Maoists and Trinamool led the attack against the villagers who were returning to their homes which they left after the violence at Lalgarh in 2009.

The villagers were returning to their homes after CPI-M successfully held a rally at Lalgarh on New Year eve. Trouble had broken out last night as the TC and Maoists 'jointly' conspired to evict the villagers. The clash between the two sides occurred when the villagers resisted, he claimed.
