Five coaches of the Awadh Express were destroyed in a fire which broke out near Ahmedabad in the wee hours of Monday, railway sources said.

However, no one was injured in the incident, they said.

The train, which travels from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai, was passing through Bharuch district when fire was noticed in one of its coaches, the sources said.

After getting the information, fire fighters doused the flame and the train resumed its journey at 6 am. The gutted coaches were left at the station.

Railways is probing the incident, the sources added.

The passengers of the five damaged coaches were shifted to other coaches of the same express and left for Mumbai, the sources said.

Meanwhile, rail traffic on the uplinking line between Vadodara and Mumbai was affected due to damage in high tension lines.

Movement of trains on downlinking lines continued with several trains running late, they said.

Work on replacing the damaged lines between Lakodara and Palej has started and traffic is expected to resume in a few hours, the sources said.
