Security forces killed two top militant commanders in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

One of the militants was responsible for the killings of Central Reserve Police Force jawans in Srinagar early this week, while the other was reportedly a top commander of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Police officials said the LeT terrorist was killed in Mahore area of Reasi district in the Jammu region in the early hours of Friday.

A senior police officer said, "Abu Jindal was killed by the security forces during a search operation in the forest area of Mahore. The operation is still in progress."

In another encounter in north Kashmir Pattan town, 33 km from summer capital Srinagar, the state police killed Shamim Sada alias Rizwan of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit on Friday morning.

"The operation was exclusively carried out by the state police," the officer said.

He said Shamim was arrested and detained under the public safety act but had re-joined HM after his release.

Shamim was responsible for the killings of police and CRPF jawans. He was also wanted in the killings of two CRPF jawans in Srinagar on August 31, the police officer said.
