The Communist Party of India-Marxist on Thursday said it will make efforts to form a front sans the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for the next Tamil Nadu assembly polls.

The party's Tamil Nadu unit secretary N Varadarajan said his party's alliance with the DMK was not indefinite.

He said though actor-turned-politician Vijaykant, who founded the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, speaks about people's problems, his economic policies were not known. The Pattali Makkal Katchi was also raising a lot of people's problems, he said.

"We will keenly observe their stand on various issues before taking a decision on aligning with them," he said.

He said the party's national congress will be held at Coimbatore in March. It will discuss the political situation in the country and formulate the party's stand for the next Lok Sabha polls.

The party's state conference would be held at Madurai from January 8 to 10, in which top leaders like Prakash Karat will participate, he said.
