Tamil actor Vijayakumar joins AIADMK

Tamil film actor Vijayakumar joined the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the presence of its general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Welcoming him to the party fold, Jayalalithaa handed over party primary membership card at her Poes Garden residence in Chennai, party release said.

The yesteryear hero and his actress wife Manjula are now the popular character artistes in Tamil filmdom. Vijaykumar's move comes close on the heels of popular comedian Senthil joining the AIADMK.

The AIADMK is already adorned by a galaxy of film stars, including Rajya Sabha member S S Chandran, Legislator Radha Ravi and S V Sekhar. This year's assembly election is poised to be a star-studded affair with film heroes and artistes from Kollywood jumping into the electoral fray.

While action hero Vijayakanth floated the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, actor Karthik recently became the president of the Tamil Nadu unit of the All India Forward Bloc.
