One person was killed and at least nine others were injured when a three-storey residential building collapsed following an explosion in a cooking gas cylinder in Moti Nagar in Delhi on Wednesday morning.

Efforts are on to clear rubble amid fears that some people may be trapped.

According to the fire department, they got a call about the incident around 7.45 am following which several fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

"One person has been killed while nine persons have been taken to hospital. The building collapsed following an LPG gas cylinder blast. Rescue operations are on," said a police official.

Policemen, fire fighters and local people were working to remove the rubble. It is suspected that some people may be trapped in the debris, he added.
