Jitendra Kumar, who was detained in connection with the 'hijack' scare onboard an Indigo aircraft on Sunday, has been sent to judicial custody till February 16.
He was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 506 (criminal intimidation) and for breaching the safety of an aircraft.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajan Bhagat told rediff.com, "A team of Delhi Police worked through the night to complete the job and produced Jitendra Kumar before the court as it was his rowdy activity that caused a flutter."
Two other passengers -- Samir Uppal and Harpreet -- were released by the police on Monday after questioning.
An Airbus A320 aircraft (Flight 6E 334) of low-cost air carrier Indigo with around 163 passengers on board a flight from Goa to Delhi made an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi on Sunday after the pilot reported to the Air Traffic Control that a 'couple' of passengers were behaving aggressively and have made a hijack threat.
The emergency drill was in place immediately and the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay at the airport. The threat was made about 15 minutes before the aircraft was due to land.
Apparently while the flight was over Jaipur on its way to Delhi, Jitendra told one of the airhostesses that he would blow up the aircraft. This led to chaos and the pilot sought an emergency landing.
