'This is the real India': CRPF's photo moves Twitter

July 31, 2017 08:40 IST

A photograph on Twitter has attracted great response from all corners of the nation, with thousands applauding it in the last 72 hours.

The image in question is that posted by Srinagar’s Central Reserve Police Force. On its Twitter handle, @crpf_srinagar, the security force uploaded an image on July 29 of a jawan reciting namaz while his colleague stands guard.

The images -- captioned ‘Brothers-in-arms for peace’ -- elicited multiple responses, mostly positive, with some saying “this is real India” and that the photograph showed we were capable of “unity and harmony.”

The image struck a chord in the backdrop of Kashmir’s continuously churning politics. Kashmir has seen violent protests against law enforcement officials. The unrest escalated after the brutal lynching of Deputy Superintendent of Police Ayub Pandith outside a mosque in Srinagar.

The image has garnered over 1,800 retweets and 7,500 likes.

Many commented, writing, “A true colour of secular n nationalist CRPF guards for the freedom of religious faith n coexistence.”

Another Twitter user wrote, “This is Real India.”

A third wrote, “Hand in hand, arms together, no discrimination, only a strong belief of being an Indian, flushing out the dirt of the society.”
