The lotus in Karnataka is withering: Chidambaram

July 10, 2012 20:18 IST

Home Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said that the people of Karnataka were watching the political developments closely. "It is wrong to assume that people in villages are not watching what is happening," he said.

"The city of Bangalore, which once held an esteemed position on the world map, has lost its sheen thanks to these political developments. The people in the villages are watching the developments and they are very disappointed," the home minister said.

We all know how this government has acquired majority. They got a majority thanks to 'Operation Lotus' but today the lotus is withering.

"This is what happens when you come to power through wrong means. The ones who are suffering are the people of Karnataka," said Chidambaram.

The minister said that the centre had done its best to help Karnataka and had allocated a lot of grants. But there was no government in Karnataka for them to utilise the funds.
