The father of one of the four suspected Babbar Khalsa militants, arrested by the Delhi Police for planning a terrorist strike in Delhi, on Friday claimed that his son had been falsely implicated.

Captain Dalip Singh, father of Baljit Singh alias Bhau, has also appealed to the President, Prime Minister, the Supreme Court, the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the National Human Rights Commission for justice to his son.

He told a news conference in Patiala that the Delhi Police arrested Baljit, an executive member of the Simranjit Singh Mann-led Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), from Model Town area in north Delhi on December 31.

"When I learnt of his arrest, I immediately contacted him on his mobile phone," said Dalip Singh.

He alleged that the Delhi Police 'deliberately switched on the handset to misguide' Baljit's relatives and friends.

On January 1, Dalip Singh sent telegrams to President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chief Justices of India and Punjab and Haryana High Court and the NHRC on the matter.

SAD office secretary Iqbal Singh Tiwana had, on December 31, alleged that more than 20 plainclothes policemen picked up Baljit from Model Town.

Baljit is also accused of having links with the Delhi cinema hall blasts main accused and former BKI Indian operations chief Jagtar Singh Hawara.

Baljit Singh was arrested, along with Hawara, in the Beant Singh assassination case and granted bail by a local court in November 2006.
