A 10-month-old boy has been kidnapped by an unidentified woman from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, when he was sleeping with his grandmother, police said.

This is the second incident in the past six months in which a child has been kidnapped from the same railway station.

The boy Sagar Mahat was sleeping with his grandmother Ranjana, 50, a contract labourer, who was at the railway station to catch an early morning long-distance train to Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, when the accused lady took away the infant, police said.

The woman and the baby were to go to Nepal from Uttar Pradesh, police said adding that they have the CCTV visuals, which captured the crime scene.

According to police, the accused lady, aged around 30 years, was sleeping next to Ranjana and Sagar on Tuesday night at the general hall of the station.

When Ranjana, who hailed from Gujarat but married a Nepali national, woke up around 3.45 am on Wednesday, she could not find the boy. She searched all over, but in vain, following which she lodged a complaint at the police station.

Sagar's father Raju works in Shirdi, while mother has been staying away from them over a family dispute, leaving the boy with Ranjana.

Earlier on June 10, a girl was taken away by a man when she was sleeping with her parents from the same station. The victim was later traced in Haridwar in Uttarakhand and was reunited with her family, police said adding that the alleged kidnapper Raju was arrested.
