Notwithstanding the opposition posed to the nuclear liability bill, the United States on Monday said it is "optimistic and positive" about conclusion of the historic nuclear deal with India in the coming months.

"I am working full time on implementing the nuclear deal. We are optimistic and positive that we are going to complete this in the months ahead," United States Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer told reporters.

Noting that some progress has been made in this direction, Roemer said implementing the agreement would be beneficial to both the countries.

"We have seen great progress in the last few weeks and this is the story of the United States and India in a win-win situation - a new date of the US-India partnership where we create jobs in America and where India gets access to clean energy," he said.

Roemer said the Indo-US nuke deal is a step forward to collaboration between the two countries and is good news to global partnership.

"This partnership is bringing forward counter- terrorism collaboration, nuclear energy collaboration, green partnerships, straight military to military collaboration. This is the story of global partnership, this is a good news," he said.

His comments came in the backdrop of opposition to the nuclear liability bill, the passage of which is crucial to operationalise the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.
