People all over the world have found a way to celebrate the time of the year when the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator with song, dancing and some yoga.
The summer solstice occurs when the Earth tilts 23.5 degrees on its axis and the northern hemisphere is directly facing the sun.
The summer solstice happens just once every year.
