The bloody battle of Kiev Maidan
The guns may have gone silent for now in capital Kiev’s Maidan or Independence Square, but peace is still far from the reach of Ukrainians.
A truce has been called. But Ukraine has already seen two such truces since Sunday collapse into carnage.
The most intense violence in Ukraine's three-month crisis, which turned Kiev into a battle zone between anti-government protesters and riot police, has claimed a number of lives. The official figure, though, still hovers in the 70s.
Media reports say dozens of anti-government protesters died in Kiev on Thursday. Many were reportedly killed by snipers. Ukraine's health ministry also said that 571 were injured during three days of violence in the Ukrainian capital.
