BRICS summit, another feather in Modi's cap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi join hands with Brazil's President, Dilma Rousseff, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President, Xi Jinping and South African President Jacob Zuma during the official photo of 6th BRICS summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was all smiles on his first international multilateral engagement. At the BRICS summit, Modi talked tough and said that the five countries --Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- should show no tolerance towards terrorism.

He said that the “choices we make now will shape the future of not just our countries, but the world at large”.

Just three hours after his arrival in Brazil for the BRICS summit, Modi and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping spoke for 80 minutes — overshooting the scheduled 40 minutes — on a range of issues, including the boundary issue. Xi invited Modi to the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting being hosted by China in November.
