Maoist ultras have asked Bihar assembly Speaker Udai Narain Choudhary to present the hisaab-kitab (a complete account) of the work he has done in his constituency.

Choudhary, the first Dalit Speaker of the Bihar assembly, is a legislator from the Maoist-infested Imamganj in Gaya district. The Maoists have threatened that they will not allow polls to be held in that area and urged people to boycott elections in the constituency.

Maoist leader Rahul alias Pintu ji told rediff.com over the telephone from Imamganj that Speaker Udai Narain Choudhary should present the hisaab-kitab of the work he has undertaken in the last 15 years in his constituency.

"We want people to know the reality as Udai Narain Choudhary had neglected (his constituency) and fooled the people by doing nothing," said the Maoist leader.

He added that the Maoists planned to disrupt polling in Imamganj. "We will not allow elections to take place and have appealed to the people to boycott it," said Pintu ji.

Last week, Maoist cadres had warned Choudhary against entering Imamganj constituency, said the police. They also warned him not to organise any programmes and objected to his initiatives for the construction of roads and bridges in the area.

Interestingly, the Opposition had earlier alleged that Choudhary enjoyed the support of Maoists and he was helped by them during the earlier elections.

The Left-wing extremists had allegedly shot dead former Member of Parliament Rajesh Kumar at Maigra Bazaar in Imamganj during the campaign for the 2005 polls.
