Shocking! CCTV footage shows moment of fatal explosion at Istanbul airport

Last updated on: June 29, 2016 09:14 IST

Footage, which appears to be captured by a bystander at the Ataturk Istanbul Airport in Turkey, shows a man being shot before blowing himself up with a bomb.

The video begins with an eyewitness on an upper level of the airport looking down at the bodies on the street below.

Moments later a sickening blast rings out, shaking the ground outside the terminal as the person filming shouts aloud and ducks.

A second video, more disturbing than the first, shows CCTV from inside the airport at the exact moment of the explosion.

At least 36 people have been killed and 147 wounded in the Ataturk airport attack on Tuesday evening.

While it's not yet confirmed who's responsible for the bombing, police sources suspect ISIS is to blame.

Early reports suggest up to three shooters stormed the airport security area with guns blazing before blowing themselves up.

Armed police at the scene reportedly opened fire in a bid to neutralise the gunmen, but were unable to stop them detonating their explosives.
