Shehla Masood murder: CBI searches suspects home

March 01, 2012 19:51 IST

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday carried out searches at the residence of interior designer Zahida Parvez, who has been arrested by the agency in connection with the murder of RTI activist Shehla Masood.

Sources in the agency said that a team of CBI sleuths carried out searches at Parvez's residence in Maharana Pratap Nagar here as it looked for elusive concrete evidence to corroborate her statements given during questioning sessions.

The agency is still trying to put pieces of this murder case together as Parvez and another accused Saqib Ali 'Danger' alias Shyam, believed to be the persons who got in touch with the hired killer, are understood to be repeatedly changing their statements.

Meanwhile, the CBI is dispatching a team of officials to Kanpur on Friday to seek transit remand of Irfan, arrested by the UP Special Task Force on Tuesday in a separate case, who is alleged to be the contract killer of Masood, the sources said.

The agency is also looking for other individuals believed to be involved in the contract killing of Masood. The sources said, a detailed picture would emerge after Saqib, Irfan and Parvez would be confronted with their statements.

The agency has now focussed on tracing the corroborative forensic evidence like the vehicle and arms used in the murder and trail of money paid for executing the RTI activist.

They said prima facie it looks the murder was the result of personal and professional rivalry between Parvez and Masood who were both known to a Bharatiya Janata Party politician.
