Seven youths have been arrested here for allegedly putting up a banner with an image of Pakistani flag on it, police said on Tuesday.

Initially, six Muslims and a Hindu youth were booked for allegedly putting up the hoarding with the Pakistani flag printed on it on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi two days back after some Hindu organisations filed a complaint in this regard at the Kotwali police station.

After probing the matter, police arrested all of them on Monday and produced them in a court which sent them to fortnight-long judicial custody, Inspector General, GwaliorRange, Adarsh Katiyar said.

The banner was found at Gwalior's Mahrajwada locality with Pakistani flag prominently printed on it, the IG said.

Vishva Hindu Parishad leaders, including its state joint secretary Pappu Varma, complained to the police following which they probed the matter and took action against the accused persons.

All seven of them were arrested under IPC section 153B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), Katiyar said adding that police is probing the matter further.
