Arrest Thackeray if you can, dares Sena

September 05, 2009 23:44 IST

The Shiv Sena today dared the government to arrest party chief Bal Thackeray after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued by a Bihar court against the Sena supremo for allegedly making uncharitable and inflammatory remarks against Biharis in party mouthpiece 'Saamna'.

"The Sena chief was arrested earlier and the government has seen what happens when he is arrested. I don't think they will commit the mistake again," Thackeray's son and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said, reacting to the development.

"We have not received the warrant. We have learnt of the development through media," Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said.

"The party will comment on the issue only after receiving and going through the copy," Gorhe said.

Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (Bhojpur) Rakesh Pati Tiwari ordered issuance of the warrant after Thackeray failed to appear before him in compliance with his July 7 order on a complaint filed by advocate Rajesh Kumar Singh in the court in 2008 accusing Thackeray of making comments against Biharis in 'Saamna'.
