Police stations across Jharkhand have been alerted following the Communist Party of India-Maoist's two-day 'Bharat bandh' from May 21.
The police stations have been asked to step up patrolling, particularly in border districts during the shutdown, Inspector General of police (Bokaro Range), Manoj Mishra told mediapersons.
Security forces would be deployed in strength at strategic locations and would keep a vigil on railway tracks and national highways during the shutdown to prevent any untoward incident, he added.
The Maoists have called the nationwide bandh in protest against the arrest of three senior cadres, firing on farmers in Uttar Pradesh and anti-encroachment drive in Jharkhand, according to reports.
They have presence in eighteen of the 24 districts in Jharkhand and the state has borders with Naxal-pockets in states like West Bengal, Chhatisgarh, Orissa and Bihar. The shutdown begins at midnight on Friday.
