March 03, 2020 15:36 IST

A security alert was sparked in Parliament on Tuesday after a Member of Parliament's car accidentally came in contact with the boom barriers installed at the entrance of the complex.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar was on his way to work when the car he was travelling in accidentally touched the boom barrier placed at Gate No. 1 of the Parliament complex.

As the car touched the barrier, the spikes at the gate got activated -- causing damage to the MP's car.

The car's tyres were slashed by the security spikes.

Hearing the commotion the security personnel on spot took position as per protocol.

Later, Sonkar's car was towed away.

Vinod Kumar Sonkar is the BJP MP from Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh.
