SC judge refuses comment on hearing refusal

March 17, 2007 16:20 IST
Justice A R Lakshmanan, who broke down in the Supreme Court on Friday and refused to hear a case involving Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's son, on Saturday declined to make any further comments on the issue saying the "chapter is closed."

"Don't ask me that question. Forget it. The chapter is closed... once and for all. I don't want to say anything," he said on the sidelines of a function here when reporters asked about Friday's incident. The judge had told a shocked court that he received a letter in which allegations were levelled against him.

Lakshmanan refused to hear a review petition filed by the UP chief minister's son Akhilesh Yadav against an earlier order of the court, directing CBI to inquire into assets owned by the Yadav family allegedly beyond their known sources of income.
