At least four survivors were pulled out of a building that collapsed ten days ago due to flashfloods and landslides in Real, Philippines, report agencies.

Rescue workers who were drilling through to the basement of the collapsed building Thursday were stunned to hear voices of women Thursday.  One of the survivors who was pulled out said some 20 people, including children, are still alive under the collapsed structure.

The Philippines has been pounded by a  typhoon and three tropical storms over two weeks, which left at a 1,000

dead and as many missing.

Real and two other neighbouring towns near Quezon were among those severely affected.

About a hundred people had entered the basement of the building seeking shelter, but the  flashfloods and landslides led to its roof collapsing at the height of typhoon.

Earlier, rescuers, mostly volunteers, recovered at least 40 bodies from the site.
