A Raja's key aide Sadiq Batcha commits suicide

Last updated on: March 16, 2011 15:24 IST

Former Telecom Minister A Raja's aide Sadiq Batcha was found hanging at his Chennai residence on Wednesday. Hi family claimed he committed suicide.

Police is yet to verify anything. "We are investigating," Chennai police commissioner T Rajendran told mediapersons. The police are conducting enquiries.

Batcha, managing director of a real estate company Green House Promoters, alleged to be a front company for Raja, was declared 'brought dead' at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, according to hospital sources. They said  that the body would be taken to a government hospital for post-mortem.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had questioned Batcha in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

Incidentally, Raja's wife MA Parameshwari was a director in Green House Promoters. The CBI along with the ED had conducted searches at his premises late last year. Both agencies were probing the possibility of his firms acting as a front for the former minister. Both agencies had questioned him earlier in connection with the case.
