Indian Railways will introduce a train-tracking system in the Danapur division of East Central Railway zone for tracking the movement, exact location and speed of the trains in the sector.
"The system will be introduced for the first time in the country," a senior Railway official told rediff.com on Thursday.
The Railway Board has already approved the plan to introduce the train-tracking system in ECR. "After the system is introduced, passengers would be able to get information about exact location of running trains," official said.
The system is likely to be introduced by next month in Danapur division.
According to railway sources, the system would be launch in other railways zones by next year.
Indian Railways is the largest rail network in Asia and the world's second largest under one management. Crisscrossing the country's vast geographical spread, Indian Railways are a multi-gauge, multi-traction system covering over 1 lakh track.
