Seven persons were injured on Sunday afternoon when 13 bogies of the 2141 Mumbai-Patna Superfast derailed near Narsinghpur, 150km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

Sources in the railways told rediff.com that at least three of the injured passengers are from Patna.

The accident took place between Bohani and Kareli stations around 1500 IST, a railway spokesman said. It's scheduled time to reach Jabalpur is 1605 IST.

All the injured have been admitted to the hospital and arrangements were being made to accommodate the passengers in other trains, he said.

Rail traffic was disrupted on the route following the derailment, the spokesman said adding senior officials reached the site and supervised relief and rescue operations.

The train left the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (in Mumbai) on Saturday night at 2330 IST and was scheduled to reach Patna on Monday morning.

In Patna, anxious relatives rushed to the railway station seeking details about the fate of the passengers.

Narendra Singh, whose relative was on the train, was unhappy with railway officials for failing to provide prompt information about the well-being of the passengers.
