Rahul in Kerala to learn about panchayati raj

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi arrived in Thrissur on Tuesday to learn about Kerala's experience in panchayati raj system.

After a brief reception by Youth Congress leaders at the Kochi aiport, the Congress leader drove to Thrissur where he would be attending an academic session at the Kerala Institute of Local Administration.

The institute, which imparts theoretical and practical training to civic body members and officials on decentralized development from within and outside the state, would be making a 90-minute presentation for Gandhi, KILA Director P P Balan said.

This would be followed by an interaction between Gandhi and selected panchayath members and officials from different parts of Kerala.

Later in the day, Gandhi is likely interact with state Youth Congress functionaries.
