Prospectus modified after SC verdict over quota

February 01, 2007 21:35 IST

With the Supreme Court removing uncertainty over reservation for post-graduate medical courses, the Central government on Thursday said that the prospectus stood modified with 22.5 per cent quota for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes students.

"Now the prospectus stands modified to the extent by which 15 per cent of All India Quota seats will be allotted in favour of SC candidates and 7.5 per cent in favour of ST candidates," an official release said in New Delhi.

"There is, however, no change in the quantum of All India Quota PG seats, which is 50 per cent as directed by the Supreme Court earlier and remaining 50 per cent of the seats are earmarked for the concerned state government," it said.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences conducts the All-India Postgraduate Entrance Examination. There are 1400 post graduate seats in the country.
