The senior pro-dialogue separatist leader Fazal Haq Qureshi was taken off the life-support system on Monday afternoon at the medical institute in Srinagar.
A team of doctors who examined Qureshi this afternoon after slight improvement in his overall condition decided to take him off the ventilator.
"He has shown slight improvement, but we are constantly monitoring him. We have taken him off the life support system," said a doctor.
The separatist leader was shot at by militants near his house in the Soura locality of the summer capital Srinagar Friday evening and was immediately shifted to the medical institute.
