Prez poll campaign: Pranab, Sangma to visit Srinagar

The presidential nominee of the United Progressive Alliance, Pranab Mukherjee is set to have a rewarding visit to Jammu and Kashmir on July 15.

Mukherjee will be travelling to Srinagar for a day to garner support of the major political parties in the state for his presidential election.

Not only ruling National Conference, but opposition, Peoples Democratic Party is reported to have decided to vote in favour of Mukherjee.

During his visit Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to meet even smaller political parties apart from the political major, NC, Congress and PDP.

Sources said the UPA top leadership has already got in touch with the PDP patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to enlist his support for Mukherjee.

The presidential nominee will be meeting separately with Mufti during his day long visit.

The other contender, P A Sangma is visiting the state ahead of Mukherjees visit on July 11.

He is likely to meet the leaders of various political parties. The state Bharatiya Janata Party unit has already announced its decision to support him.

National Conference, Congress, and PDP have a combined strength 68 MLA's in the state legislature. The two ruling coalition partners, NC and Congress have ten MP's.

The polling for presidential election-2012 is slated for July 19.
