March 11, 2013 23:28 IST

India and Mauritius on Monday reviewed their co-operation to strengthen the partnership between the two countries and discussed regional and global issues of common interest.

"My consultations with President (Rajkeswur) Purryag have been frank and cordial. We reviewed the co-operation between our governments and discussed regional and global issues of common interest," President Pranab Mukherjee wrote in the visitors' Book after meeting the President of Mauritius.

Mukherjee said he was happy to convey warm greetings and good wishes of the people of India to the friendly people of the Republic of Mauritius.

"I am deeply touched by the warmth of the reception accorded to me by His Excellency Rajkeswur Purryag, President of Republic of Mauritius.

"I look forward to working with him to strengthen and consolidate our partnerships for the mutual benefit, progress and prosperity of both our peoples," he said.

Mukherjee arrived in Mauritius on Monday on a three-day visit during which he will attend the country’s national day as chief guest.
