Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday reached out to Jayalalithaa-led All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to seek its support on the issue of foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail.
Dr Singh utilised the opportunity to seek the support of 14 AIADMK MPS support when they met him inside the Parliament House on Monday to seek his intervention in the case of Arasu cables where Centre is delaying to give its accord.
The
PM expressed that FDI is important for India. "Let us not show to the world that India is divided on FDI," he reportedly told the AIADMK MPs.
The PM also agreed with ADMK MPs that he gave reply to Tamil Nadu chief minister and party chief Jayalalitha's request for 1000 KW power from the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
At this point PM urged the AIADMK MPs to impress upon Jayalalithaa to vote for FDI in Parliament. To which the MPs gave a nod.
