PM calls up Obama, invites him to India

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has called up US President Barack Obama to congratulate him on his re-election and invited him to visit India again. 
 
Dr Singh said this had given the opportunity to the two countries to carry forward and build on the enormous successes that had been achieved in the bilateral partnership in the last few years. 
 
He also expressed his appreciation for the personal interest and commitment that President Obama had brought to the relationship and said that he looked forward to continuing their close cooperation to pursue their shared vision for the India-US strategic partnership. 
 
President Obama thanked Dr Singh for his wishes and said: "You have been a wonderful partner." He noted that India and the US had an excellent relationship, which had deepened over the last few years. 
 
He also expressed appreciation for Dr Singh's leadership on the world stage and said the he looked forward to working together with him  
 
Both leaders expressed their intention of seeing each other soon. 

Earlier, Dr Singh was one of the world leaders to whom United States President Barack Obama called back personally to thank him for his greetings on the eve of his reelection to the White House, a press release said.

"On Thursday morning, US President Obama was able to return some of the greeting messages personally, by phone. In each call, he thanked his counterpart for their friendship and partnership thus far and expressed his desire to continue close cooperation moving ahead," the White House press release stated.

Apart from Dr Singh, Obama also called Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Francois Hollande, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and King Abdullah bin Abd al-Aziz of Saudi Arabia among others, the release added.
