NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly, space station gardener, shared photos of the prized zinnias on Saturday.

The flowers were grown inside the veggie lab aboard ISS which was installed in early May 2014.

The results will help NASA to solve the challenges of growing plant life in space.

NASA astronauts grew lettuce in space earlier this year.

A representative from NASA said growing a flower in space is a lot more difficult than growing a vegetative crop like lettuce.
