No trace of Pataudi yet

As yet another deadline lapsed on Thursday, former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and his accomplices, facing arrest in the black buck hunting case, did not present themselves before the Haryana police in Jhajjar.

"None of them approached police. However, police is doing its bit and conducting raids to nab them," Superintendent of PoliceĀ Hanief Qureshi said.

"No fresh summons will be given to Pataudi and others," he added.

Pataudi and seven others have been booked under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act for allegedly hunting endangered animals near Jhajjar in Haryana on June 3. If found guilty, they face imprisonment up to seven years and fine of Rs 25,000.

The Punjab and Haryana high court in Chandigarh is scheduled to take up the anticipatory bail pleas of Pataudi and Shashi Singh, a co-accused,

on Friday.

The court has refused them interim bail and directed the Haryana government to produce all relevant records pertaining to the case by Friday.

A Jhajjar police team led by Inquiry Officer Kaptan Singh has left for Chandigarh with case records, sources said.
